Assessment is an imperative and significant part of any education system in the world. It play
s a central role in defining the objectives, outcomes, and strategies to rework and reform the academic delivery at schools and also guides on accomplishing the vision and mission of any academic or non-academic establishment. It is broadly and generally accepted and being practiced by all the schools, colleges, universities of the world. It has also become a major part of the digital courses and institutions to validate and credit the learning of the students. Without any assessment, no school, college, or university will ever promote the learners to higher classes. And the same applies to digital courses. It is so commonly accepted that even you cannot find an institution, in any part of the world, that doesn’t conduct it at their place.
Some researchers found different types of assessments. And proved how each and every type is crucial for effective learning. The most common three types of assessment are; 1. Assessment for learning, 2. Assessment of learning, 3. Assessment as learning. In brief, Assessment for learning occurs to provide feedback to both the teacher and the learners regarding the learner’s progress towards achieving the learning objectives. Assessment of learning occurs to enable students to demonstrate what they know and what they can do, it also describes the extent to which a student has achieved the learning goals. Assessment as learning occurs by involving the students to monitor their learning and creates a relation between their learning and objectives to attain.
These different types of assessments do one job in common; make the learners achieve the objectives. Teachers depend on it because they need information about the progress and evidence to claim how well the teaching-learning process is effective.
For all these years, the assessments have been conducted without a clear understanding of why it is important and what should be the next step according to the result!
The schools are so obsessed with it that they claim the result to be genuine and consider it very authentic. I have a few questions and I think they must be asked by all the educators in the world.
Q1: Does the assessment help in supporting the different types of learners?
• We know the fact that there are different types of learners in every class. We try out best to offer the curriculum according to their style of learning. Some are auditory learners, some are visual learners and some are kinesthetic learners. So, we have to assess the learners according to their styles. There must not be one but multiple ways of conducting an assessment that helps those learners do well in it.
Q2: Are the methods or ways of assessment intended for all learners?
• For many years now, 'paper and pen' is the only method at almost many schools. From the last decade, the other methods and ways are also considered as methods of assessment. whatever the tools that are used, all of them must help different types of learners. some students like to speak it out, some prefer to write it down and some prefer to explain using visuals. The methods of assessment must not become a barrier to expressing their knowledge or information.
Q3: Can we consider our assessment genuine?
• This is an apt question. We consider our assessment method to be genuine. But it is not. Some children don't do well in the 'paper and pen' exam but can orally speak out all the information. Some like to explain the concepts in their mother tongue and don't prefer explaining the same in foreign or any other language. It simply means that they have all the knowledge and information, the language is becoming a barrier. Having no idea about this fact, the educators consider their one method to be genuine and the same has been presented and spoken about to the parents. Everybody starts assuming that the kid is not acquiring knowledge, but the fact of the matter is, he is doing a great job.
Q4: What will be the better way or method of conducting an assessment?
• The teachers must research and find out the different methods of conducting an assessment. That method must focus on the distinction and unique learning styles of the learners. It must assist and enable them to share their knowledge and information, without any hiccups.
Q5: Are the students aware of why the assessment is being conducted?
• No, the students are not aware of why exactly the assessment is conducted. They may tell that it is to check their knowledge. But it has got many objectives behind it. Matter of fact, like any lesson that has learning objectives, there must be some learning objectives for the assessments too. It must be spoken well to the students. Which must enable them to self-analyze or self-check how good and smart they are with their studies and where they need to improve. It must give them a clear idea about how they can self-assist themselves for acquiring knowledge and skills.
Q6: What are the objectives behind every assessment?
• Do we really know what are the objectives behind the assessment? For each and every lesson, there has to be certain objectives for the assessment too. It shouldn't remain as a regular practice of conducting it at regular intervals, so the learners are made to write the exams just for the sake of continuing the evil practice, where the teachers do not know why they are conducting the assessment and what they must do to assist their students.
Q7: How the parents can help educators in this practice?
• Parents must support the teachers in this cause. They cannot close their eyes whenever they are asked to assist the schools. It is their equal responsibility to know what their ward is learning and acquiring at school, how far he has attained the curricular objectives, and how good he has to be. The areas of improvement must be highlighted, also with an objective. The parents will start to appreciate the efforts of the schools when they get clear data and infographics about their ward's performance.
Matter of fact, the assessment is meant to achieve similar objectives, but with different domains. The students must be aware of why they are being assessed and what is the agenda behind every assessment. They need to know about the progress of learning to self-analyze how smart and good they are. Parents must also be supportive and are mindful of all that happens at schools.

here are many people who influence us in every matter of life. As per our perceptions, we decide how big or small its effect is on our life. It doesn’t come only from the top and high-profile people. Even a common person can create a big influence on his thoughts, words, or actions. Not only geniuses, but the vulgarity also can create a huge influence on an individual. During all the phases of life, one must follow those people who have experienced the bitterness of life, who never gave up, who never stayed in their comfort zones, and who have succeeded after making several mistakes for their passion.
There is always confusion while searching for people who can offer the best advice in order to achieve something in life. People run behind such influencers who have not achieved something meaningful in their life. It is also due to the lack of credible people who can guide us and show the right perspective. Why do we need to bother about what XYZ eats in his breakfast or what does he wear for a party? If this impresses an individual, he strictly has to work on acquiring the right perspectives for his life.
People can easily find out who is the genuine influencer or not by looking at their background, profile, and their activities for the sake of excellence or helping the people. If you want to become a great influencer and wish the people to follow your way and also succeed in their life, you need to show them the right approach by following some set of rules for yourself.
1. Publish yourself: this is also an expression “publish or perish”, you need to publish yourself and if you don't, you'll perish. You have to show your skills to the world more often so that they find beauty in you from every angle. If you want to reach out to many people but you are not publishing your knowledge, skills, talents, etc. how do you think you’ll create a bigger impact on people’s life. You can write about certain facts which could inspire the people, you can make videos on certain important and necessary facts that help people acquire the right knowledge, you actively meet people and tell them about your perspectives so that they’ll appreciate your presence in every meeting. Just like this, you need to think of some activities that can take you to the world and make a big difference.
2. Actions must define your words: this is a common mistake by many influencers. What they say sometimes, doesn’t match their actions. And sometimes, what they do, doesn’t suit their words. Like you see in an advertisement on smoking, you’ll see an actor promoting social awareness, but you see them smoking on different occasions. Such people cannot create the right influence on the people and they’ll truly fall into the irrelevance category. Whatever we speak of, we must be able to show the world that we follow the same. And whatever we do, there must not be any difference in our words.
For example:
i. If I’m telling you not to smoke, but I’m doing it.
ii. If I’m encouraging you to help the poor people, but I’m not doing it. In both examples, I’m only proving my irrelevance to the words and actions. People must not follow such fake influencers.
3. Something to offer: before you start publishing your skills, talent and your knowledge or perspectives, you need to have something that must inspire the people and encourage them to pursue the same perspective. There are a few people, only by reading one or a few books, they act like they have acquired the overall knowledge and start preaching their stupidity. you will also find them offering free motivation with their videos or messages on social media. You need to avoid them immediately. Such people have not succeeded in any manner and trying to make the fool out of the people by spreading their half-baked knowledge. You need to develop yourself in the first place, then you’ll be able to create a right and a bigger impact on people’s life. you shouldn’t be like such people who run behind the fame, having very little to offer to the people and leave them in the middle to go astray. A real mentor or a right influencer will always be with his followers, guiding them with the right perspectives until they succeed in their career and life.
4. Stay up-to-date: this allows an individual to decide whether he can preach his knowledge or not. Staying up-to-date is crucial for every influencer, no matter whichever background he hails from. For example: If I’m a medical doctor and aren’t aware of new medicines or new trends in healthcare, I’ll become a bad doctor. If I’m a designer and I want the world to follow me for new trends in the fashion industry, but I don’t bother to keep myself up-to-date with the new trends in the same industry, I’ll become an irrelevant influencer in no time. The same applies to every expert who has got some followers and people who depend on his findings and perspectives.
5. Stay connected: the right influencers keep updating and posting about their perspectives more often. They don’t publish something at quarterly intervals. Their right posts keep inspiring people on a regular basis. You’ll find this majorly happening with those mentors who are staying regularly connected with their followers. They also share their ideas with the people on important topics and learn from them. Some may also complain about not getting enough credibility or publicity for their posts, it is due to their poor connection with their people. A little idea when shared, on a regular basis, will also create a bigger impact.
I pointed out five ways for keeping the right influence active. There are many aspects to doing the same. I strongly recommend that people must follow the right influencers and avoid falling prey to fake people whose actions don’t match their words. In the end, when everybody wants to succeed, so let it be from the right mentors.

Making use of the resources is a habit of highly effective teachers, who truly belong to the 21st century. They can make resources out of anything. According to my distinction ‘any tool or supply or material that simplifies and supports better teaching-learning experience, is a resource’ (in the context of Education). These resources are used in every classroom to educate children for better learning processes. The more the teacher is creative or innovative, the better the resources are used at schools. They assist the teachers in their course of executing academics and allow them to achieve the desired learning outcomes.
The school management makes sure that they hire better educators at their school. They promise them to provide all the possible support they could and ensure that the educators do not hesitate to ask them for any kind of support required. But on some occasions, the management fails to provide them the proper resources on time. That discourages the energy of the teachers and makes them delay their planned activities. Its bad effect is seen in the students. The teachers have to have the resources to make the learning simple and fun.
There are also these cases at some schools where the management cannot be made guilty for the following;
i. The teachers do not use the resources provided by the management
ii. They don’t consider making their own resources with whatever they have at the schools
The teachers must also try to find the teaching-learning resources from anywhere. Due to technology, now it is a piece of cake to find the appropriate material or information that could be used for the purpose of teaching. Such teachers also regularly check on Google.com or pinterest.com or any other website that provides them the information according to their needs and expertise, which can be used for teaching in the classroom.
Q1: How are the teachers supposed to make use of the resources?
Ans1: At every school, there are respective departments for each subject and language. Each department has a minimum of 3 or 4 teachers. These teachers keep the spirit of the entire department for the entire school, as they mainly represent a particular subject or a language. The members of the department must prepare the teaching-learning resources for all the teachers in that department. It must be kept in the staffroom so that anybody can have access to it.
For example:
1. A Math teacher needs certain tools and equipment, based on certain topics, that could be used to teach Math easily. When the students use them, they focus on learning the concepts, such as measurement tools for measuring the objects, under 'measurement topic'.
2. A science teacher needs similar material for her subject. The students use them to learn the concepts and information. E.g. the objects of planets to learn the solar system
3. An English or a language teacher needs the tools or material based on linguistic skills. When the students see them, they focus on acquiring or learning the language. E.g. Dictionary, etc.
So, the members must make such supplies that are based on certain topics and concepts, which can be used by all the teachers for a year.
Q2: What to do when the teachers don’t find the resources at schools?
Ans2: They are advised to pay visits to the places in their cities, go to stationery stores, find the material, pay the amount from their pockets and submit the receipt at the school to get the compensation. This is also a common practice at schools, the teachers are often asked to do so, when they are in dire need of something, they can pay the amount from their pockets and get the compensation from the school later.
This is a major excuse given by many teachers. They depend on availability, not on the possibility of making their own resources. When they receive the required material, they utilize them. When they don’t receive, they don’t try from their end. And sadly, the year gets over.
Q3: Should the teachers keep waiting for the management to provide the supplies?
Ans3: NO. The teachers should not keep waiting for it. They are educating the students. When they need something that supports the cognition of the learners, they can either make it from the available stuff or buy that from the market and utilize it.
The teachers must avoid the following;
i. Not making use of the available stuff at schools
ii. Blaming the management for not providing the supplies required
iii. Not finding ways to make their own resources and material
When educators find their own ways to help support the learners, they eventually become the best educators who are capable to fight the odds and shine like a star professional.
